MORE THAN JUST GREAT COFFEE
EXPERIENCE THE TRUE AROMA AND FLAVOUR
A SPECIAL MENTION
We keep our roasting in the family and therefore we roast our own famous beans with our own roasters. Roasting is the end all and be all of the famous bean. We know the region our beans are farmed as we know the farmers. We only import the highest quality of beans and roast them to perfection. Our artisan roasters understand the art of roasting beans in different batches to the same consistency ensuring the same quality our patrons are accustomed to time and again.
Nothing in the world smells better than freshly roasted coffee beans. By freshly, we mean not older than 14 days before it is served. Every bag
is individually labelled along with the sell by date before it is shipped, to ensure a superior blend for the consumer to experience the flavour of every famous bean brewed. Patrons develop their own specific coffee taste and as artisans we marvel in roasting especially for the not so faint hearted coffee lovers.
ROASTING BY HAND TO ACHIEVE
THE PERFECT AROMA AND FLAVOUR
ROASTING THE FAMOUS BEAN
AN ARTISAN'S TOUCH
Deon de Bruyn started roasting small batches of coffee from his home in 2011, he now tends to several kilograms of coffee, all roasted lovingly by hand. What started out as a passion for wine grew into a passion for coffee when his good friend Karl Klusman introduced Deon to the art of “cupping” coffee as you would taste wine. What Deon was introduced to was the world of flavours and art blending that that coffee has to offer.
Deon bought his first coffee roasting machine and beans whilst he was still a mathematics teacher. After school he would come home and experiment with different roasting techniques, giving his batches to friends and neighbours to try. This grew into a very successful home-based business, his doorbell constantly ringing for new orders.
His signature House Blend is a favourite amongst clients for its medium roast with notes of cocoa and hazelnuts.
Deon roasts coffee daily or specially to order. The secret to truly good coffee is how fresh it is so much so that the roasting date is written on the bag by hand and Deon packs and signs each bag to ensure quality. Quality is Deon’s passion. He roasts small manageable batches by hand. He checks the beans in their green form, he checks the beans whilst roasting and listens for the first “crack.” He does not rely on any machinery or gadgets to help him roast, only on instinct, smell, sound and sight. Once the beans are roasted he sifts through them again all to ensure that only the most well-rounded roasted beans are what make it into your bag.
